How to prepare for a newborn photoshoot
Here's a little guide to help you know what to expect of your newborn photography session, so your family can come in and relax as we capture your babies' first days.
Where Do You Take the Images?
Images are taken in my home studio with soft natural light, ensuring a calm environment. The room will be heated to a approx. 28 degrees celcius (82 fahrenheit), to keep baby sleepy and easily posed. But don't worry, it's 36 degrees in your tummy, so baby will be comfortable and happy at all times.
What to Bring?
If your baby takes a dummy / pacifier then please bring that along, as bubs may become a little unsettled as we move through the session. I have plenty of gorgeous props for you to choose from in your session in all sorts of colours and tones including a beanbag for posing, a cute little posing pod chair, vintage wooden bowls, mini rompers and petite tie-backs/headbands. I love it when parents bring in special items like handmade blankets and items which have been passed down, so I always encourage you to bring these along.
What to Wear?
Layers, layers layers! As the room will feel warmer than usual, it is best to have loose layers that you can easily remove to remain comfortable. Please avoid bright/ bold colours and patterns or logos as these will be distracting - I want you to be the focus so come along in neutral tones and colours.
How Long Will it Take?
You should allow approx 2-3 hours for the session, you will never feel rushed as I am very patient. I will make sure that you and your new baby is happy, so will always allow plenty of time for feeding, cuddles and rests.
When Will I Receive my Images?
As soon as possible! I will edit the best 20 images of the session and send them to you in a private online gallery within two weeks of your session. You will then have one week to choose the images you wish to purchase. I will send you the digital files to download immediately and send your prints off to the lab soon after.
